I did my first closet "reorganization"! I helped a dear friend out, who already had style and class, but needed a little boost. I must say, she was a trooper! There are some things I just said NO to. She gladly took my advice. It was super fun!
I am going to make a print out for her about do's and don'ts and just some rules about looking great with the clothes you have. We need to purchase some key items, but the point of this is to work with what you've got. You don't have to spend a ton of money to be fashionable!
Starting to try things to to see what works. More pictures to come when we buy our "key" pieces. Thanks Kandy!

I don't know if I could do it.

A shopping diet? Wow, what an idea, but I don't know if I could do it. I would fit the category of an addicted shopper. I like to think of it as my drug of choice. Although I think this concept is a good idea in today's economy, I love shopping WAY too much.

Getting things rolling.
I am really getting excited for the business to launch. I have so many ideas, it's all I can think about. I will figure out prices soon and post them asap. I will also make a poster to spread the word.
So as I've said before, we have limited shopping here in the Monterey area. But, I am making due with what we have. Plus, I am a stylist/shopper for the average woman. Who needs a shopping trip to Sakks anyway... .Um ok, well I would love one. But, we make due.
I took a friend shopping the other day. She has a great figure, just needed to show it off more and help put things together. I think we need to continue our journey of Fashion Greatness, but we did find some great things at the Gap.
This was a cute printed t-shirt with Jeggings. I am all for jeggings! Gap has some nice ones with a higher rise, so you can tuck in whatever needs to be tucked.
A super cute khaki jacket and denim colored jeggings. She went with these instead of the black ones. They look fab on her. Hard to see, but the shirt underneath was a striped 3/4 sleeve with a tiny bit of embroidery around the color. Little things to spruce up a shirt!!!
This is the full outfit! So classy! I had to add in the Divalicious Bella. She had a blas in the dressing room. My kinda Gal. The shoes are animal print with purple trimming. I love these! Gap has a bunch of flats of all different colors. They even have glittery ones... which I will be purchasing very soon.
As I said, we have more to do. Pictures to come...Prices too!

Jeans!
There are going to be a lot of posts about jeans! I kind of have a love/hate relationship with them. I came across this on Us Weekly. These definitely are not for everyone, but you can get an idea of what's in for fall. Well in Celebrity World at least.

Something of Interest
My very fashionable sister came across this website and shared it with me. Now, I must share with you.
I love expensive clothing! I love top couture fashion! But, I can't afford any of it, so I love stores like Nordstrom Rack, Marshalls, TJ Maxx, and Last call by Neiman Marcus.
Unfortunately, most of these stores do not have a website to order online... until now.

Check it out! Great steals on Fab fashion!

Dream Job
I have decided to do something spectacular. I'm going to start my own business! I'm a little nervous, I lack a little bit of self confidence, especially in the business aspect. But, I am going to prevail and try this out. I want to be a Stylist/Personal Shopper. As much as I would love to do top couture fashion with heavy duty price tags, this is reality... I am a Military Wife, I know other Military wives. So I am going to become a Stylist/Personal Shopper for the "Middle Class". We can find super fashionable things at Target, Forever 21 (which is coming to Monterey by Xmas), Old Navy, Gap, Marshalls, etc...
Hopefully I will get a professional site or blog going soon, but for now I am going to share some fashion tidbits and just random thoughts. Enjoy!
10 Fall Fashion Must haves! (Well, except for here in Monterey, where it's summer)
1. A fitted jacket
~ Oh how I love blazers! They look good on everyone! Dress them up or down.
2.A white shirt
~ A fitted button-down white shirt always is a classic piece to wear. I just need to add a little white to my collection.
3.A plaid shirt
I saw plaid shirts had appeared last year, and I never got one... I need to get to a store! Great with Jeans.
4.Tall boots
I've always had a thing for boots. I love them! I've already bought a pair for the season. I like brown, black, red, camel, or brown. I like heel, or flat. Think riding boots. They go with everything. I love how Jill Zarin and Spanx were in the first pic I found. :)
5.Messenger Bag
You might not think this is the most sheik of purses. But, I am seeing them all over the place. I personally find them easier to carry. I just pull it over my shoulder and have my hands free to chase a toddler.
6. A biker jacket
I stole this one from the all powerful Rachel Zoe. A biker Jacket. I've seen them at Marhsalls' lately. They're not necessarily in my budget right now, but I've seen faux ones at Target.
7.The boyfriend jean
So I love bootcut jeans. I always say without fail, go with a bootcut. It's flattering for everyone. But, I came across an expensive pair of boyfriend jeans at Goodwill of all places! I really like the way they fit. It's cute with a fitted shirt and ballet flats.
8.leggings
Yay leggings! I like these with the zippers. Wear them everyday! Plus, you don't have to be stick thin to get away with the,. I have tree trunks for legs and I still wear them! I just wear a longer shirt, like a long cardigan.
9.A statement necklace
I like one big accessory. A cute headband, big earrings, or a huge, gaudy necklace. I love this one here. Even if you're wearing a plain t-shirt, a big necklace will add flare to it.
10.A belt
I need to vow to myself to wear more belts. They're the perfect accessory. Thin, wide, or 80's grommets, it will all work.
So there are the Top Ten Fashion Must Haves! Some I need to follow more myself. Have a great fall everyone! I'm so excited for my new Fashion Adventure!

HAIR!
I came across this article in Allure Magazine (which is now one of my faves) a few months ago and it got me thinking... I have struggled lately with the idea of being a Hairstylist. Is it what I want to do? What else can I do? It's really the only skills I have. I've been out of the Salon atmosphere for about 5 years now, so you could say I'm a little out of the hair loop.
This article is about Beauty School. About some of the top celebrity hairstylists when they went to beauty school. Being a hairstylist has this stigma, especially beauty school. You know, high school drop-outs, ditzy people. I have to admit, I might have found myself a little embarrassed at times. But, I am starting to realize I'm proud of my "hair abilities". I have a license in two states, I've been on tv, and was once a successful stylist and can be that way once again.
Here are some examples of this great article:
Serge Normant who owns a Salon in NYC and styles Julia Roberts's hair, recalls some of his beauty school adventures. He says he had to learn how to use a straight razor on a balloon covered in shaving cream. If they popped the balloon they would be in big trouble. Ken Paves, who is now a super famous stylist (Jessica Simpson), loved Beauty school. He loved hair so much, he even did his teachers hair. Chris McMillan who does Jennifer Aniston's frocks went to Beauty school during high school. Which is something I wished I had done. It would have saved me a few years wandering around college. One of the coolest bit of info I found in the article is about Joel Warren from the Warren-Tricomi Salons in NYC. He was in NY dating a girl, and she suggested he try Beauty school. He went to the Rockland School of Beauty Culture in Rockland County, NY. Which is where I grew up as a kid! I instantly felt connected to this Guy and thought I could be a famous stylist too, because we're from the same place... right? My Beauty school adventures are nothing to brag about, or ever want to admit to people, but it was still fun. It was a run down school in not the nicest of places, but I'm still glad I went.
So basically the article goes on about other stylists and their Beauty school experiences. Here's the part that sticks with me... There was a little red box with info at the end of the article. They say that girls, glamour, getting out of a small town, the top pros had their reasons for choosing beauty school. It's a steady gig! Beauty-industry jobs will grow grow by 20% from 2008 to 2018. It's faster than than the average occupation. This has a lot to do with today's economy. People are going to beauty school to change careers because they're looking for job stability with a flexible schedule. These careers are not being outsourced to other countries. This is a hands-on field. Hair is always in demand!
