Does this make my butt look big?

For those of you that know me, I'm not lacking in the derriere department.  My 5 year old son has even noticed this quality about his Mother.  As we say, a Squishy Tushy.

My Sister is in town for a couple weeks and we both love to shop.  There is limited shopping around the area, but I can always mange to find somewhere to go.  On this occasion we went to Macys.  They have a pretty decent jean collection there.  I was quite shocked  by this.  So we had fun trying on a few pairs.  Let me tell you, finding the perfect jean is one of the hardest things I've ever done.  I have yet to complete this mission.  But, it's a huge goal of mine. Yes, some people have a mission to get a PhD, or resolve major World problems, but my mission in life is to find the perfect jean, for my body type that is...

So jeans can make or break a figure, especially your BUTT.  It can make you look like you had some magical butt lift, or it can make you look like your behind is 5 inches bigger than it actually is.  I can go on forever about the "perfect jean", but for now, this is one lesson.  Pockets:  If you are well endowed in the Butt area, the smaller the pockets, the better.  Don't have any flare on the pockets.  Fancy Schmancy jeans are not great for bottom heavy Women.  Also, those pockets with the flaps on them can make a behind look bigger.  Structure is good for a jean as well.  I know "jeggings" (jean leggings) are in right now.  They are just like wearing some regular leggings.  As a person who likes to follow trends, I really would love a pair, but I tried some on, in a lighter wash and they made my booty look HUGE!  Here are the pictures below...
Ugh, here is for all to see my squishy tushy!  This is with the jegging.  It's just all spandex with no structure and a lighter wash.  These were Hudson jeans for $140

This is the better jean!  See how small the pockets are?  It has more structure to the jean, meaning more to hold you in.  My behind looks much smaller.  These are Joe's Jeans, called Honey.  They were $158.

Now off to do some Squats!

A few finds along the way.

Here are a few more things I found at Marshalls a few days ago.  They were just so cute and affordable, I couldn't pass them up.  If you dig, you shall find.

This is the "Old Lady" Sweater.  But, check out the little bit of animal print added.  I think it would be great with a tank and jeans.  Plus, it was $17.99 Remember, cardigans are a must!

I love this dress!  I know some might not be so sure about it.  But, this is good quality!  I think this would be a great summer dress for a wedding or just a night out.  The colors are amazing and it would fit most body types.  I would have bought it myself, but they only had limited (meaning tiny) sizes.  This was originally $340 and was on clearance for $39.99.  Can you believe it?

Okay, this is hard to tell.  But, this is what my friend called the Safari dress.  This just screams summer to me.  It was navy blue on top.  I instantly fell in love with the belt alone.  This was $20.  Also, another flattering pieve for most body types.

So, the lesson for today is... Dig through clearance racks!  Now, I'm not usually a big fan of this.  Even though I love shopping more than anything else in the world, I like to do it quickly!  Look, look, look, then move on.  So digging through racks after racks tries my patience, but as you can see, it's well worth all the finds!

Hardware is in!

I took a trip to Marshalls last night with a dear Friend and Neighbor.  I have officially started my mission of finding fashionable clothes at discounted prices.  My other mission to find out what's in...

This tank was super cute and was only $9.99.  I love the simple zipper on the pocket.

Another zipper piece.  I am also noticing that one shoulder tops are way in right now.  I love one shoulder tops!  It's such a great pick for a night out.

This was an interesting find!  It has a bubble-tuck on the bottom. Notice more hardware on the strap... snaps!  This would look great with leggings.  You could make this fancy with heels, or casual with cute ballet flats.  I am a big ballet flat girl, they can make any outfit look put together.

This is something I found while roaming around the celeb mag websites this morning. I am loving Kourtney Kardashian's style lately. Now my mission is to find this at a much more inexpensive price.

My new name is Style on a Shoestring

So I am a little Blog challenged. I'm not sure how to add all the fancy "stuff" to my blog, but will soon learn.

I am a magazine fanatic. I love to just sit, relax, and read a good mag. Of course I love the juicy tabloid ones, but love fashion ones as well. I know there are top fashion mags out there, Vogue, Womens Wear Daily, etc... But, I like the more simplistic, realistic ones. Lucky, Allure, Glamour, People's Style Guide, more and more. So here are a few tips I've read recently in a few of these magazines.

This one is from Glamour.

There was a list of a few things to tweak a wardrobe you're just bored with. My 2 cents have been added.

~Try tucking in a shirt. Lately I've seen just the front of a t-shirt tucked in. Remember when that was big in the early 90's? :)
~Add a belt (It's very in right now). Anywhere from a thin one, to a thick elastic one. My Mother even just bought some.
~Add heels. Now, I am not a big follower of this. I love heels, I adore them, but my feet can't handle them. My lovely sister wheres heels all the time and she likes expensive ones, but I can't do it. My feel hurt! But if you can, try wearing some every once in a while.
~Layers! I love layering. I live in the best place for layering. The weather changes all day and we're never really warm. But, no matter where you live layering can make an outfit super cute. I find that it also can cover lumpiness some of us got going on. A nice long tank under a shirt, any kind of shirt. Cardigans, cardigans, cardigans!
~Now this is my fave, as some of you know me will agree. Never underestimate the power of BLACK. Black is so sophisicated! It makes you look thinner and I think, a little more put together.
~Accessorize. Pick one big piece to wear and own it.
~Add a colorful shoe. This is my own idea, especially if you're a "black wearer" like me. A bold shoe, like a red or even green can totally change an outfit.

I'm adding something totally random. Don't pay attention to the video itself. yes, I'm a Real Housewife fan, but look at Jill's outfit. I can't stop thinking about it. The simple black dress, with the gorgeous green bracelets and to die for green heels. That's the type of outfit I love! Now, it's not practical to wear to Target, but I love a good outfit!

Here is goes... What, I'm not sure yet.

I go back and forth thinking about writing a blog. I have so much going on in my "wacky" head and yearn to write it all down. So, here it goes...

I was born a girly girl, or so my Mother tells me. I have always had memories of liking "girly" things. From a young age I was enamored with older, glamorous Women. I always wanted to wear make-up, I only wanted to wear skirts that twirled around when I spun, my hair had to look perfect, and at the age of 2, my clothes had to match.

I'm a trained hairstylist and it once was my passion. I'm not sure if it is anymore. I haven't worked in a Salon for about 5 years and not sure how I feel about it anymore. I think about hair, it's what I look at when first meeting someone, but not sure if it's the career for me... right now. I'm a stay at home Mom who sometimes battles with that title. I think I need to figure out what I want to do.

The Fashion Industry is always on my mind. How people look, how they're dressed, or just what looks good on people and myself is something I can't get away from. I saw a bumper sticker the other day that said FIDM "Mom". It's like one of those bumper stickers that is like Air force "Mom", or NAU "Mom". I wanted my Mom to have this sticker on her car. For those of you that don't know, it the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. It could be a possibility one day, but for now I will try and find something else to keep me occupied.

A couple Months ago I was asked by a dear friend to go shopping with her. She was going on a romantic getaway to Europe with her Husband. She asked if I would tell her what to buy. Of course, I think this friend has great taste to begin with, she just needed the extra oomph to boost her confidence on what to buy. Well, I had one of the best times of my life on this trip! It's like I was on a Personal Shopper High! We went to Macys, The Gap, and Marshalls (shopping is limited here). I picked out a few things here and there. Some she was into, others she didn't want to go near, but all and all she felt very confident in what I picked. She ended up with a fab wardrobe of clothes that she would have never bought on her own. So, I think this is what I want to do. I want to help people feel confident in what they wear. I want this to be realistic. I am a Military Wife, I don't have the biggest budget, but I think I do my best to look good and stylish and I think I can help others as well.

I'm not sure how I'll go about this... I will search all over the area in what I think is "hot" right now, take pics, give advice and post it all on my new blog. :) Thanks
