Loving hair!

Hair is my first passion.  I love everything to do with Fashion, but hair is the profession I found first.  I lost a little bit of that passion along the way.  Being out of the salon atmosphere and moving around can do that.  Every time I do a friends hair and have the freedom to do what I want with it, that passion comes right back.  I love cutting and especially coloring hair!   It's super fun to chat with friends over tea and play around with some hair. 

I feel like hair can make or break a person.  I know it takes time to style, which some of us don't have, but, with some tips I can help you achieve that styled, fab, put together look.

Tricks of the trade:

1.You don't have to wash your hair everyday.  It can save you so much time. It's the power of  baby powder.  Doesn't matter what color hair you have, take a bunch and rub it all over your scalp, then brush out.  It doesn't smell strong and soaks up all the oil.  It also gives your hair more body.


2.Invest in salon quality styling tools.  I've had some of my friends discover this recently.  By purchasing a good curling iron/flat iron your hair will look like a pro did it.  They get hotter then the ones from a drug store.


3.Get a good haircut.  Updating your haircut every 6-8 weeks will make a huge difference in how your hair looks.  Don't feel like you need to go to a super fancy salon to get a great cut or color.  There are plenty of great stylists in every salon.  Use www.yelp.com.


4.Use a deep cleansing shampoo.  Even though I don't like "over-the counter" hair products, you can find one there.  Sometimes the scalp gets build up from everyday styling products and out pollutions.  Wash with a deep cleansing shampoo once a week and it will liven up your hair.

Bloomies is a girl's best friend

My sister is a huge fan of Bloomies (Bloomindales), but who isn't?  They listed the top holiday trends for dressing up and I LOVE THEM!

 Okay I love everything on the Bloomingdales website.  Especially the shopping guide for fall.  Okay, now waiting on the holiday party invites.

Trying something very new

So the battle with exercise continues... I find some form of exercise that I love and then get bored with it.  I'm pretty much this way with everything in life.  My new interest is joining a gym.  Yes, there is a community center with limited exercise equipment not too far away, and a full gym where my Husband works, but I won't go to those.  I found one near by with daycare!  Yes, daycare!  What this has to do with fashion?  Okay, I'll fill you in.

In order to pay for this gym, I must stop buying clothing/shoes/fashion accessories.  I purchase these items on a regular basis.  But, joining a gym and shopping as much as I do is just not in my budget.  So I am going on a shopping sabbatical.  It might actually cause me physical pain not to shop, but I'll be getting into even better shape while doing so.

Please follow me on facebook if you haven't already. :)  I will show everyone that you can put together stylish outfits with what you've got in your closet.  Don't get me wrong, I love to shop and still love to take people shopping for their ultimate "makeover".  So if you are like me and need to be on a budget this is a great idea too.  With the power of technology I can also do this long distance.

Blogs about shoes...Notice a trend?

I guess I will have a lot of blogs about shoes.  I love them!  I'm picky about them, but love them.  I have bad feet, but love them!  I love going to Marshalls with friends and just trying on cool shoes.  Towering, expensive ones are the best!  As I've said before, we are limited with shopping here in Monterey, but Marshalls is dangerously close to my house. 

I was a little afraid of the lace up boots.  I've seen some outrageous ones.  These were subtle enough.  They were $49.99.

Sorry about the blurriness.  But, you can't go wrong with Prada.  These have been at Marshalls for a while now.  Does that mean that they'll be on super clearance soon?

These heels!  I must have these heels!  They were actually comfortable too!  $49.99!  Now if I could learn to walk without looking like a toddler in them, I'd be ready to roll.

One of my favorite things to do is stroll around Marshalls.  They have great, quality stuff at an affordable price.  Here are some things I found today. 

Flats, flats, and more flats.  I can't get enough!  You can be stylish, classy, and sophisticated without wearing towering heels.  Okay, I wish I could wear those towering heels, who wouldn't, but I just can't.  So ballet flats will do.

But if you CAN let your feet suffer, these are adorable on clearance for $39.99!

Oh a bomber leather jacket!  How I love thee!  This is on my Xmas list.  I saw a fake one at Target, which was adorable, but the real thing is always better.  $100.00

Sequins is all over the place right now!  I can see this with black opaque tights and heels for a holiday party.  A friend and I were so channeling Rachel Zoe with these.

Here's the darling Ms. Alena in an adorable animal print Calvin Klein sweater.  It had a tiny leather snap to close it.  I loved this!

Stella & Dot Jewelery Party

Until recently I had never heard of Stella & Dot.  I just discovered the company and I love their stuff!  I had a show last night and I love all the pieces I saw.  Unfortunately, my fab photographer and friend could not make the show, but I managed, cheap camera and all.  The point was to show how one spectacular piece of jewelery could change an outfit. I really do have many more photos to take, but check these out for now.

The set up

We were excited to find Kandy a piece.  She is her final stages of a little revamp and needed a neckalce to go with her mostly patterned tops.  I think she found one.

Here's Alena in an eye-catching piece.  I love this busy necklace!  Get a plain white tee and you've got yourself an outfit!

This is it up close.

This necklace totally put together Lisa's outfit.  The outfit was cute already, but this added the WOW factor.

Not your everyday strand of pearls.

 Look how cute Kristina looks!  Except for the jeans, I picked this outfit out for her (pat on the back).  This necklace put it all together.

 I love the way this pic turned out.  That's the necklace I wore, it ties in the back.  Everyone said it was very Cleopatra.

 This is a two-in-one piece.  One was just rhinestone, then you can clip the rest in.  Again, a piece to add pizazz to a plain outfit.

Okay, this picture is a little Dolly Partonesq, but the necklace is cute.  You just wrap it around you.  Very versatile.

This brooch was on a necklace that Kristina was wearing.  It comes off and was just adorable!  It's dyed silk.
